Dry ice is perfect for your cooler and camping-vacation needs. It is widely used because it keeps perishables frozen/chilled and dry. Dry ice changes from a solid to a gas in a process called sublimation; it does not melt into a liquid form, preventing a mess. It can also be fun for your Halloween Parties to give a spooky twist.
Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide, a major gas permeating the planet’s atmosphere. The substance is easy to purchase and you can use it to do a variety of things ranging from flash-freezing food to creating instant fog.
Fun Fact: Dry Ice is in Short Supply in San Francisco and Los Angeles. We include some with nearly every icecream order for free.
How to store dry ice:
- Store the dry ice in the cooler
- Coolers are not airtight so as the dry ice evaporates some of the gas will escape.
- Do not store the dry ice in your refrigerator or freezer.
- Do not store it in a tightly enclosed area. Do not leave dry ice out where people or pets can come into contact with it.
